Detectan una vulnerabilidad que permite entrar en habitaciones de hotel

Un investigador en temas de seguridad de Mozilla, Cody Brocious, ha detectado una vulnerabilidad que permite manipular cerraduras electrónicas.
Se trata concretamente de los cerrojos que fabrica la empresa Onity, cuyo lema es “el líder mundial desde hace décadas en el suministro de cerraduras electrónicas para la industria hotelera“. El investigador ha usado una herramienta que ha fabricado él mismo por no más de 50 dólares, que lo conecta a la cerradura electrónica de la puerta de la habitación y “se abre”.
Además, Brocious también detectó otro error en este sistema que le permite crear duplicados de las llaves de las habitaciones, las mismas que tienen los huéspedes cuando contratan los servicios del hotel.
El investigador, o hacker, apuesta por el potencial de esta herramienta “casera” y cree que con un poco más de desarrollo podría servir para entrar en cualquier habitación de hotel del mundo.
